An accidental injury will probably happen to 25% of us at some point in our working lives.1 If it happens to one of your employees, how prepared will he or she be? An accident could wreak havoc on your employee's savings.

Accident insurance can give your employees a cushion to help cover medical expenses and living costs when they get hurt unexpectedly. So even if an injury does disrupt one of your employee's lives, it won't shake their financial security.

Where Other Coverages Fall Short
Most accidents happen outside of work, where most employees are not covered by Worker's Compensation or on-the-job disability.2 Furthermore, if employees are injured and can't work, they can't always depend on Social Security. Only a third of people who apply actually qualify for disability benefits.3

While your employees can count on health insurance to help cover medical expenses, it doesn't usually cover indirect costs that can arise with a serious, or even a not-so-serious, injury. They may end up paying out of their own pocket for things like transportation, over-the-counter medicine, daycare or sitters and extra help around the house.

With accident insurance, your employees could receive benefits to help take care of these extra expenses and anything else that comes up. Specifically, they can receive a lump sum benefit for on-the-job and off-the-job injuries, plus some medical benefits. Because accident insurance is supplemental, it works in addition to other insurance they may have. They can use this policy on its own or to fill a gap left by their other coverage.
